Three Students from Providence Classical Christian Academy’s Senior Class of Nine Students Achieve National Recognition
Providence Classical Christian Academy is proud to announce that three of its nine seniors have achieved recognition in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program. One student, Ms. Rebecca Doctor, has been named as a Semifinalist and has the opportunity to be considered for a Merit Scholarship. Two other students, Ms. Shannon Egan and Mr. Abram Egger, have been named as Commended Students and have received a Letter of Commendation.
“At Providence Classical Christian Academy our mission is to equip students for a life of wisdom, virtue, and eloquence to the glory of God,” said Headmaster Jonathan Mattull. “We are so pleased to see our mission at work in our students, and particularly in this case, in Rebecca, Shannon and Abram and we’re so thankful to God for his continued presence in our classrooms and community.”
Although Commended Students will not continue in the National Merit competition, Egan and Egger placed among the top five percent of more than 1.6 million students who took the PSAT/NMSQT in October, 2015. Doctor, meanwhile, joins approximately 16,000 semifinalists in the 62nd National Merit Scholarship Program. About 90 percent of Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and about half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.
