Providence Cross Country Team Sucessfully Concludes 2016 Season

Providence crossed the finish line of the 2016 Cross Country season running strong at the National Association of Christian Athletics meet in Dayton, TN last weekend. Providence fielded 3 teams with a total of 19 athletes in competition with approximately 240 other Christian athletes from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky and Missouri cross country programs.

The varsity boys followed up last year’s runner-up performance bringing home a 3rd place trophy this year, running their best team race of the season. The junior varsity boys also finished in 3rd place also displaying its strongest performance of the season, and finishing only 6 points away from a team trophy. And, last but not least, the junior varsity girls were lead to a 2nd place team trophy with fantastic representation from all runners. All students made indispensable contributions to our cross country program’s team effort and should be congratulated for their hard work this season.

Coach Dernlan is very grateful for the hard work, discipline, resolve, friendship, and encouragement the teams demonstrated this year. Special thanks are owed to Mrs. Dernlan for all of her sacrifices to help the upper school and grammar school teams succeed and to the many parents who bolstered the teams by providing rides, snacks, cheers, and various support roles throughout this great season.
