Tuition & Affordability
Providence is committed to providing an affordable tuition while maintaining small class sizes.
We desire to make enrollment accessible to families with a range of financial circumstances. As such, in addition to our standard tuition rates, Providence offers an indexed tuition, whereby tuition rates are customized according to each family’s ability to contribute to their educational expenses. We also offer multi-sibling and early pay discounts and offer several donor-funded scholarships.
One of the pillars of Providence is to provide an affordable tuition while maintaining small class sizes. Providence is committed to making enrollment accessible to families with a range of financial circumstances. As such, Providence offers an indexed tuition, whereby tuition rates are customized according to each family’s ability to contribute to their educational expenses. The standard tuition rates for the 2024-2025 school year are:
Standard Tuition Rates | Amount / Year | Amount / Month |
PreK-3 (2 Days) | $3,950 | $329.17 |
PreK-4 (3 Days) | $5,125 | $427.08 |
Lower School (K-6) | $10,250 | $854.17 |
Upper School (7-12) | $12,400 | $1,033.33 |
Providence uses FACTS, an independent school management tuition service, which evaluates a family’s means to pay, including such factors as family size, number of children attending schools that charge tuition, as well as assets/liabilities and household income.
The online indexed tuition application process opens in December for the following school year. Returning families must apply for indexed tuition before March 1; after that date they are ineligible for the program unless there is some qualifying event that has altered their financial situation. New families must apply for an indexed tuition during the time they are completing the admissions process.
The chart below reflects the most discounted tuition in each bracket based on adjusted gross income as calculated by FACTS:
Indexed Tuition Rates/ Household Income & Assets | $50K or less | $51K to $85K | $86K to $120K | $121K to $179K | $180K or more |
Maximum Adjustment* | up to 70% of tuition | up to 40% of tuition | up to 20% of tuition | up to 10% of tuition | no award |
PreK-3 Tuition (2 Days) | $1,185 | $2,370 | $3,160 | $3,555 | $3,950 |
PreK-4 Tuition (3 Days) | $1,538 | $3,075 | $4,100 | $4,613 | $5,125 |

*Since the awards will vary from family to family, the award estimates shown are meant to give a hypothetical estimate of the
maximum potential index given the income bracket, but it is not a guaranteed award for those within that bracket, as each
family will be assessed individually and awarded accordingly.

Providence has cultivated a school culture which highly values hands-on parental involvement. Each Providence family is given the option to serve 50 hours per school year or pay $10 per hour of service (e.g., $500 would cover the full 50 hours). This amount is prorated for families of PreK students. This allows the school to make use of the various gifts and talents of Providence parents. Parents are asked to document their hours throughout the year through the Providence Family App (or the FACTS Family Portal).
What is Indexed Tuition?
Indexed Tuition is a program that helps to ensure access and affordability to private, classical, Christian education for all. The Indexed Tuition Program allows families to apply for reduced tuition in contrast to applying for a “grant” or “award.”
Must all families apply for the Indexed Tuition Program?
No family must apply for indexed tuition. However, not doing so means that the given family will pay the full tuition for the year, with appropriate multi-sibling discounts. To take advantage of an indexed tuition, a family must submit the appropriate information and application.
How does Indexed Tuition differ from Financial Aid?
Our Indexed Tuition model is a different approach to Financial Aid. Rather than focusing on a tuition grant or aid, as we have previously, the focus is on reasonable ability: given the salary and assets of a family, what level of tuition can the family afford to pay? We are determined to keep the school accessible to families from a wide range of backgrounds and have decided it makes strategic sense to offer a wide range of tuition options. While every family is expected to contribute to the cost of tuition and fees, and to support the community to the extent individual family circumstances allow, the school expects them to pay according to their ability. While all families, regardless of tuition level, will still be sacrificing to send their students to Providence, it is our hope that this will allow more families to attend who previously could not do so.
How is Indexed Tuition handled in situations where parents are separated, divorced, or remarried?
In the case of parents/guardians who do not live together (e.g. divorced, separated, never married), each parent/guardian household must submit financial information along with all prior year tax returns to be considered for the Indexed Tuition Program. As a general principle, it is expected that both parents and all adults financially responsible for a student contribute to the cost of a student’s education in accordance to the relevant legal stipulations. Our third party organization (FACTS) determines a family’s ability to pay by factoring in all available resources from both parents and stepparents. Families who are not able to submit all required documentation should contact us to determine if they can be considered for the Indexed Tuition Program.
What if my Indexed Tuition is higher than I can afford?
You may request a review of your application by writing to Providence’s Finance Committee. Every effort will be made to understand and incorporate a family’s particular circumstances. Keep in mind, while we have a significant amount of reduced tuition in our annual budget, the amount is not unlimited. As a consequence, Providence must prioritize and allocate these funds. Where possible, the school will assist families seeking additional financial support by directing them to other outside resources and agencies. Please understand that only one review is done for each case.
Who has access to my financial information?
Providence is committed to protecting the privacy of its families. All financial information is submitted to an independent, third-party organization (FACTS) who then evaluates that information and provides Providence’s Finance Committee (made up of board members and administrators) a recommendation for indexed tuition. Once an indexed tuition level is determined, the accounting office is made aware of the tuition for that family. The information is kept in strict confidence from the rest of the community.
Does Indexed Tuition continue year to year?
Providence asks families to resubmit financial information each year so that tuition levels can be adjusted as needed based on changing circumstances. Families will be contacted with tuition decisions on a rolling basis beginning on February 1. The deadline for submitting an application for an indexed tuition is March 1st. Families who have initiated the application process too late to allow them to comply with the deadlines above are encouraged to proceed. However, the financial resources cannot be guaranteed and the amounts of discounts available at a later time may be limited.
Does an Indexed Tuition receive a 3% discount for early pay?
Only families who pay the full rate of tuition (i.e., non-indexed) before August 1st receive a 3% early pay discount. All families are permitted to pay a lump sum before August 1st, but only those paying the full rate will receive a 3% discount.
What about returning students?
Returning students will receive the first priority for financial aid funds, so long as they submit their appropriate information prior to February 1st. Thus, all returning families ought to submit their information prior to February 1st. This consideration includes returning families who have not applied for prior financial aid as long as application materials are received in a timely fashion. Returning students can expect to receive generally the same level of aid from year to year as long as their financial need is comparable and they remain in good academic and disciplinary standing. This is intended to allow longer-term financial planning for each family.
Interested in Indexed Tuition?
Indexed tuition is one way that Providence seeks to make classical, Christian education accessible to families in a variety of situations.
Prospective or current families interested in taking advantage of this opportunity submit an application for an indexed tuition which is then used to determine the indexed tuition amount for a family for that school year.
