Our Faith
Providence Classical Christian Academy is an interdenominational, confessionally Protestant Christian school.
Confessionally Protestant
In all of our classes, the teachings of Christian doctrine include the essentials of the faith articulated in the Bible. Traditionally these essentials are summed up by the solas of the Reformation, namely that we are saved by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone to the glory of God alone in accordance to the supreme authority of God as revealed in Scripture alone.
Interdenominational
As an interdenominational school, we partner with families and churches from a variety of different traditions—Presbyterian, Lutheran, Baptist, Charismatic, Catholic, and Non-Denominational, among others—in order to offer a Christian education that draws on our shared faith in the triune God of Scripture and the rich tradition of Christian thought through the millennia.
In the classroom, we emphasize that which we share in common, though we do not avoid discussing points of doctrinal disagreement, especially in our upper grades. However, in any case where issues of potential doctrinal disagreement arise, we encourage our students to discuss them with the parents and pastors. In all things, we seek to partner with our parents, recognizing their primary role in shaping the spiritual lives of their children.
Our Shared Commitment
In our faith, teaching, and practice, the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, as the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God, are our ultimate and final authority (2 Tim 3:15-17; John 10:35; 17:17).
In accordance with these Scriptures, and along with Christians who have gone before us, we subscribe to the Apostles’, Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds and to the common elements of the following historical confessions as our primary doctrine:
- Augsburg Confession (1530)
- Belgic Confession (1561)
- Thirty-Nine Articles (1563)
- Westminster Confession (1646)
- London Baptist Confession of Faith (1689)
As a member of the Association of Classical and Christian Schools (ACCS), Providence also subscribes to the ACCS statement of faith.
